This fan works well to cool my laptop and an external hard drive (I use 1 speed) speed never to use 2nd About the noise, put it next to my laptop so I know that it runs but does not bother me at all. I also like the design of the fan. The engine is backed by a good hard bread rolls, unlike the low cost.
